Opposite of “how many people does it take to put in a light bulb” – is ”how bare bones can a library staff be, and still serve patrons well”? We put that to the test in the past week, when not only were we down two planned staff members (with new babies added to their families), but also one who became ill.  The rest of our staff (and intrepid substitute) met the challenge with grace and fortitude.  We extend many thanks to them for taking on extra duties and being so supportive!

We’ve got one more community art project up our sleeves: You Are Part of the Puzzle!  Pick up a blank jumbo puzzle piece at the front desk and enhance it by drawing, painting, collaging to express yourself.  Bring your finished piece to help us build a big puzzle.

Golden Days Harvest Festival is not complete without a visit to our Friends’ Book Sale.  We receive donations daily, so the selections available change just that fast!  When we first moved to Green Lake (20 years ago), the book sale hooked us… just like a book store, but at fantastic prices!  Stop in on Saturday or Sunday to find what you’ve been looking for.

If you’ve ever wondered if it was worthwhile to get a library card, now is the time to find out!  September is Get Your Library Card Month.  Libraries work diligently to offer services that folks ask for: the newest materials, free wifi, e-books, streaming services, tools for exploring, movies, local history books, groups to learn new skills, and more.  Library cards may be ‘the best card in your wallet’ – as I tell patrons on a regular basis, but more importantly, they give you opportunities, so many opportunities. We’ll make the application process painless… and it only takes a couple minutes!
