The rainy weather just keeps coming and to keep you indoors and occupied, you’re welcome to come over to the lower level of the library Thursday, April 14 at 2 pm for a matinee showing of Encanto, recently winner of Best Animated Feature. Snacks will be provided.

With Easter weekend upon us, we have a slightly altered schedule. We are open on Good Friday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. We are also open the same hours this Saturday. Closed on Easter Sunday, though, so our volunteers can spend the holiday with loved ones. We are back to our regular hours next Monday, the 18th.

You are invited to celebrate 175 years of Green Lake history at the Dartford Historical Society Spring Event. The program will feature a presentation focused on the first 50 years of Green Lake history from our founding in 1847, based upon Bret and Kimi Sandleback’s book, Green Lake Archives. Recent additions to the Society’s collection will be on display, including a c.1905 Telephone Directory. The event will be in the Burr Oak room in the lower level of the Caestecker Public Library at 3:00 pm and repeated at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, April 20th.

The Green Lake Conservancy members will also speak at the Spring Event about the recent acquisition of the historical property known as Powell Springs, and a brief history of Powell Springs will be presented. As one of Green Lake’s first European residents, Powell was employed by the American Fur Trading Company owned by John Jacob Astor. The Dartford Historical Society Spring Event is free to all, refreshments will be served, and registration is requested. Please sign up at the library’s front desk or give us a call at 920-294-3572.

Another opportunity coming up at the library is with certified CPR instructor Beth MacGowan. Beth will be holding a free Heartsaver Adult and Infant/Child CPR course here at the library for up to 12 participants on Saturday, April 30 from 9 am-noon. All study materials will be provided; all you need to do is come and be ready to learn. Although the course is free, if you need CPR certification for your job, registration costs $20 through the American Heart Association. Please stop by the library or give us a call to get on the list. Visit greenlakelibrary.org or our Facebook page for more details on upcoming programs and happenings at the library.
