August is upon us and the first Tuesday of the month brings the next opportunity to try out Roasts & Reads. R&R is our most casual book club where friends and neighbors can talk over recent books they’ve enjoyed or find a new author to follow. Join us at the library on Tuesday, August 6th at 10 am.
We also have an author visit and book signing for you this month! Penelope Morelli has combined the power of her original poetry and photography along with featured works from other local photographers to capture the natural beauty of Green Lake in her book Green Lake The Good Life. Penelope will be at the library on Thursday, August 8th at 4:00 pm to read some of her poetry and share stories about the lake we all love. Copies of her book will be available to purchase, and a book signing with Penelope will follow. All proceeds from Green Lake the Good Life go to the Green Lake Association to continue the work of protecting Green Lake for generations to come.
The 51st Annual Green Lake Fine Art Show weekend is coming up and the Friends of the Library are planning a two-day book sale to celebrate. Visit the lower-level of the library Saturday August 10th from 9:00 am- 3:00 pm and Sunday, August 11th from 10:00 am -3:00 pm to find an amazing selection of used books, music, movies, puzzles, and more.
All proceeds from the Friends’ Book Sales come back to the library in the form of programs, books, movies, magazines, and more. Our Friends are a hardworking and cheerful crew, and we are eternally grateful to them. Interested in joining this special group? They always welcome new members and would love to hear from you.
