What a weekend! The Friends of the Caestecker Library Harvest Fest book sale was a resounding success, with over $3,400 in sales. Thank you to everyone who stopped in, donated items for us to sell, and made this past weekend so very much fun for the Friends.

So, what will the Friends do with the money raised? Well, every year they pay for the library’s magazine and newspaper subscriptions. The Friends also pay for the prizes we give out during the summer reading program and for some of the cost of the entertainment and programs we provide throughout the year. Our Friends’ volunteers are a hardworking bunch, and the library wouldn’t be the same without them. Are you interested in being a Friend of the Caestecker Library? Stop by the front desk to pick up a membership form today.

This Saturday October 1st starting at 10 a.m., Incredible Bats will be with us to dispel the five most common myths about bats and teach you about echolocation calls. You will get to see and learn about live fruit bats and a few other furry friends. Kids and adults will enjoy this free live animal program in the lower level of the library. Yummy treats will be provided by our Friends hospitality team.

Stroll & Stay on Monday filled the library with strollers and happy walkers. Caregivers of little ones from newborns to young kids are invited to meet at the library on Mondays starting at 10 a.m. for a stroll around town. After the stroll everyone is invited back to the library for a light snack, open play, and socializing. It’s also a good opportunity to check out a weeks’ worth of books to read with the little ones, or maybe one for yourself during naptime quiet. Storytime on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. brings another opportunity to play, meet with or make new friends, and help build those early literacy and conversation skills.

Our two-week movie line-up includes Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris on 9/26 and Elvis on 10/6. Movies start at 2 p.m. on the big screen and popcorn is provided. Whether it’s for movies, storytime, book sales, live bats and furry creatures, or just a daily visit, we hope to see you at the library soon!
