The Penny War between the five Green Lake County libraries is heating up! There’s a jar at the front desk if you would like to support the Caestecker Library for the win. Helcia our neighbor from Horicon Bank donated a penny BRICK! It’s fun to test your muscles on and we are grateful for her fun way of showing support!

Do you like to talk about books? The library’s Constant Reader Book Club next meets on Wednesday afternoon, July 13th at 3:00 to discuss Fredrik Backman’s Anxious People. Copies in a variety of formats are still available at the checkout desk. New members are always welcome.

The Summer Reading Program is in full swing, but don’t worry if you haven’t yet registered on Beanstack – there’s still lots of time to earn great rewards for reading. We also have some great programs this coming week that I hope you will attend. Our featured guest on Monday morning at 10am is David HB Drake presenting his Wiscon-Sing program. Tuesday July 12 starting at 10am, we welcome Derek Kavanaugh from the Green Lake County Land Conservation Department for a hands-on waterbug workshop that kids and adults will enjoy. Then at 1pm on Tuesday, join us to try your hand at using alcohol ink to make beautiful coasters at our Crafternoon program. Wednesday brings Storytime with Ms. Margie, a chance for older kids to read to Tia the reading therapy dog, and our book club meeting talked about above. Thursday brings a chance to come to the Side Yard at the library for Water Olympics and good ol’ fashioned water fun. Bring clothes to get wet in and towels to dry off with. You may also want a change of clothes so you can spend time inside the library after all the water fun. After a break for lunch, you’re welcome back to our 2pm showing of Fatherhood starring Kevin Hart. Visit our website at greenlakelibrary.org for full program details and other helpful information.

The library’s meeting rooms have been in almost constant rotation since earlier in the summer, swapping out library programs and community needs. If you’re taking a class or need to do a Zoom meeting, are part of a community planning session or just want a quiet place to focus, please give us a 920-294-3572 to reserve a room today.

There are lots of great new books to discover this summer, too, for all ages and almost every interest. You will find them on display throughout the library. And if by chance we don’t have the title you’re looking for, please let us know. If it fits our budget and collection, we’ll pick it up for you. If not, we will do our best to locate it at another library and get it for you on interlibrary loan. Just let us know, we’re happy to help.
