Big screen movie viewings continue at the Caestecker Library in May. Our two-week movie matinee line-up includes Triangle of Sadness on 4/27 and Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody on 5/4. Movies start at 2pm on the lower-level big screen and popcorn is provided. You might be concerned that crinkly popcorn bags and a group of movie goers can make the movie hard to hear but you’ll be glad to know our movie room is equipped with a hearing loop system. A hearing loop helps people who use hearing aids that are equipped with T-Coils to hear sounds from a PA system directly and clearly in the hearing aids, because it reduces or cuts out background noise. If you have hearing aids and you turn on your T-Coil during our movies, you might now have the best sound in the house! If you don’t have hearing aids but would still like to cut out the background noise, we have one hearing loop receiver kit available upon request.

Roasts & Reads is our casual Book Club for readers of all kinds. Have you read something lately? Are you in a reading slump? Circle up near the fireplace on Tuesday May 2, at 10 am and share your reading journey with us. In turn, you’ll hear what others have been reading, too. You might learn of a new author or book that you must check out. While we are sipping coffee and chatting about books, we can easily add items on your library holds list to keep you reading until the next get together.

The Friends’ Spring Book Sale is coming right up during Garage Sale weekend. Visit the lower-level of the library May 5&6 from 9am-1pm for amazing deals on used books, music, movies, puzzles and more.  Thanks to the efforts of those who donate, our volunteers, and buyers, the Friends always have successful sales. The money brought in at each sale will bring performers to the library this summer, purchase our magazine and newspaper subscriptions, augment the collection, and generally helps keep the Caestecker Public Library a vital part of the greater Green Lake community.
