We have quite a few events coming up at the library that you might want to mark on your calendar. A full listing of our events is on our website at greenlakelibrary.org or on our Facebook page. Here are just a few highlights for now:
Join us on Tuesday, October 11th at 1:00 p.m. to create your own magical little book witch, just in time for Halloween. If you’re looking for a handmade gift or house decoration, this is the event for you! All supplies and directions will be provided and no sign up is required.
This year we are kicking off a Costume & Coat Swap opportunity. Kids are always outgrowing their clothes, why pay an arm and a leg for a brand-new costume or coat when you could swap with your friends and neighbors! Bring your child’s outgrown costumes and coats to swap for a new-to-you item. Come for the swap and stay for a small craft and snacks. Please bring your gently used, clean items to the library by Wednesday, October 12th, so the staff can organize and set up the event. Items will still be accepted at the door. The swap will take place Thursday, October 13th from 4-5:30 p.m.
You’re also invited to the library on Saturday, October 15th from noon to 1:00 p.m. to enjoy good fish stories and purchase a signed copy of The Venerable Fly Tyers by Dave Jankowski. Born and raised in Green Lake, Dave Jankowski is now a retired U. S. Air Force fighter pilot and Northwest Airlines captain. He is an ardent fly-fisherman, fly tyer, and bamboo rod maker. With a passion for veterans, he participates in Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing and its affiliate, Bamboo Bend, where he serves as lead instructor. Come listen to his adventures firsthand during this homecoming book signing event by the library fireplace. Light refreshments will be served.
Movie Matinees will continue in October. Enjoy popcorn and a film on the big screen. Movies start at 2 p.m. The dates and movies are October 6th – Elvis, October 13th – The Phantom of the Open, October 20th – Bullet Train, and October 27th – Everything Everywhere All At Once.
There are many other opportunities planned for the month of October at the library. If the crisp fall air makes you want to curl up with a good book for an armchair adventure, we have many of those to share with you, too.
