Last year the Green Lake County libraries participated in Valentines for Vets, and it was an enormous success. Thousands of Valentine’s Day cards were delivered to Wisconsin Veteran’s homes last year from participants throughout the state and we would like to give the opportunity to be a part of this new tradition again in 2025. Each library will have Valentine’s Day cards available at the front desk for patrons to fill out when they visit us. On January 29th, we will send them off, so the Department of Veterans Affairs has enough time to distribute the cards to the former service members and their spouses who live in the Veteran Homes in Chippewa Falls, King, and Union Grove on Valentine’s Day. Next time you are at the library, take a moment to send a short message to a Veteran to let them know they are not forgotten and to brighten their day!
Our first meeting of the Creative Writing group included brief introductions, short readings of current projects, listening to writing goals, and learning about different writing processes. The group decided to jump in and increase the number of gatherings to every other week instead of once a month. That means the next opportunity to share your own memoirs and musings is coming up on Sunday, February 2nd at 1:30 pm in the Hickory meeting room at the Caestecker Library.
The beginning of a new year is always a time for reflection and setting goals for the future. The Caestecker Public Library team has been busy looking back at where we’ve been, where we are now, and where we’re headed as a community and as a library. We want to make sure you are a part of our strategic plan process. Strategic planning is dedicated time to review data and information about the library, and, alongside the community, to explore different opportunities and future priorities for the library. We will ask you to add your voice and ideas throughout the process. To follow along, please visit greenlakelibrary.org and look for an invitation to take our community survey, available online and on paper from February 1-15, 2025. If you have any questions or would like to share ideas, please call 920-294-3572 or stop by the library and ask for Christina. Thanks for being on this journey with us. We hope to see you soon!
