Our first full week of summer reading programming is almost complete, and it’s been a busy week! We’ve sung and danced, listened to stories, visited with the sweetest little therapy horse named Fancy, gotten swept away with our imagination and pretend play, and met a lot of new people. If you’re new to the area or just haven’t made it to the library yet, please come visit with us. We would love to get you a library card and get you familiar with all the library has to offer.

One of the big hits for kids and adults alike has been the Augmented Reality Sandbox display on loan to the library from Green Lake County Land Conservation Department until the end of June. The AR Sandbox is an excellent way to have an interactive hands-on experience with watersheds and topography. You can dig a lake, build a dam, make it rain, and watch how it all connects.

As for upcoming events, we have something happening almost every day of the week at the library. American Underdog is our Family Friendly Movie on Friday, June 24 at 10 am. The Friends are having a Book Sale in the lower level of the library on Saturday, June 25 from 9am-1pm. This coming week is your last chance to sign up for the Tai Chi Prime class that starts on June 28 at 9:30 am. Please call Amanda at the Aging & Disability Resource Center at (920) 787-6666 to register for the class.

Monday June 27 brings the release of another Activity Pack and a live animal program at 10 am with Mtoxins Venom Lab from Oshkosh. Don’t worry, they’re leaving all the venom producing critters back at the office, but you can expect to see and learn about tortoises, lizard s, snakes, and a bird of prey.  Tai Chi classes start on Tuesday and there will be drop-in self-directed craft options available for the kiddos. Wednesday takes us to Storytime with Ms. Margie starting at 10 am followed by a chance for older kids who are learning to read, or struggling with reading confidence, to read aloud to Tia the Reading Therapy Dog at 10:30 am. There’s all this and more happening at the library just this week! Check greenlakelibrary.org or find us on Facebook for all the details.
