I am grateful to report that we made it to our goal of 400 responses for the library’s strategic planning survey! The library board, our strategic planning cohort, and library staff appreciate every response as we step into the next phase of planning. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us via the survey, conversations, emails, and notes. We have a fantastic community and are excited for the future!

We’re on to our third week of Road to the Oscars films and you have two chances to see Conclave—Thursday, February 20th at 6:00 pm and Friday, February 21st at 2:00 pm. The film nabbed eight nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. Next week’s film is A Real Pain. Enjoy the big screen experience with free popcorn, all at your local library.

When you visit the library’s website –greenlakelibrary.org—you’ll see a yellow button reading “Digital Library” where you can find an incredible number of resources offered, from small engine repair to genealogy and local history resources. Two new additions to the digital services offered are Ancestry Library Edition and Creativebug.

Ancestry Library Edition offers one of the most important genealogical collections available today.  It has unparalleled coverage of the United States and the United Kingdom, including census, vital, church, court, and immigration records, as well as record collections from Canada, Europe, Australia and other areas of the world!  This collection, with thousands of databases and billions of indexed names, is essential to having a broad genealogy collection, and its valuable content is a strong complement to HeritageQuest Online (also available in the Digital Library).  Ancestry Library Edition is only accessible inside our library building—use one of our computers or bring your own device to dive into your family history.

Creativebug is available for you on your computer at home and within the library. Creativebug has thousands of award-winning art and craft video classes taught by recognized design experts and artists. Use Creativebug as a springboard to learn how to paint, knit, crochet, sew, screen print, and more all from the comfort of home. If you’d like additional resources, the library has plenty of books and friendly crafting groups to join.

If you have any questions on the Digital Library, please call 920-294-3572 or visit us for one-on-one assistance. Library staff are happy to help you navigate and become familiar with all the Digital Library has to offer on your own device or one of ours.
