As National Volunteer Week arrives, it’s a fitting time to acknowledge the vital contributions of the dedicated individuals who support the Caestecker Public Library. Their consistent efforts often form the steady heartbeat that keeps so much of what we offer running smoothly and effectively.
Thanks to the commitment of our volunteers, the library doors are open on Sundays, providing important weekend access for our community. Their care also extends to our welcoming atmosphere, from the inviting window displays to the pleasant gardens and well-tended houseplants.
Our volunteers diligently organize book sales, offering affordable reads and raising vital funds for library programs. They also handle essential tasks, like getting garbage and recycling bins to the curb during our current staffing shortage, that keep our library running smoothly. Beyond these efforts, many dedicated individuals also volunteer their time and expertise by serving on the various boards that support the library – the Friends of the Library, the Library Foundation, and the Library Board of Trustees. Their leadership, guidance, and commitment on these boards are essential to the long-term health and success of the Caestecker Public Library.
This National Volunteer Week, we extend our sincere gratitude to all our volunteers at the Caestecker Public Library. Your consistent contributions and your generosity make a real difference in our ability to serve Green Lake. Thank you for your time and dedication.
And speaking of volunteers, Green Lake’s Garage Sale weekend is coming up and the Friends of the Library will be having a two-day book sale make sure shoppers have plenty of time to look for the best bargains to take home. Are you passionate about food and cookbooks? Then join the Caestecker Cooks the Cookbook Club for their first lunch of 2025! Hosted by volunteer Chef O, this month’s gathering will be on Thursday, May 15th, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm in the Burr Oak Room.
Here’s the delicious premise: each month, the club focuses on a specific cookbook. Members choose a recipe, prepare it at home, and bring it to the meeting for a potluck lunch.
Our featured cookbook to kick off the year is Ree Drummond’s Pioneer Woman Cooks: Dinnertime.
Ready to get cooking and connect with fellow foodies? Here’s how to participate:
- Stop by the library to browse or borrow a copy of Pioneer Woman Cooks: Dinnertime.
- Sign up at the front desk with your chosen recipe.
- Bring your prepared dish to the Burr Oak Room on May 15th.
- Come hungry and ready to enjoy a culinary community!
Bonus: The Friends of the Library are generously giving away a copy of “Pioneer Woman Cooks: Dinnertime” to one lucky attendee at the lunch. We hope to see you there!
