Newspaper Column for December 26, 2019

As the new year is on the way, make a note that the library is open 9 am-1 pm on Tuesday, December 31st, and closed on Wednesday, January 1st. Have a very happy and safe beginning to the New Year!

As we prepare to say goodbye to 2019, I want to thank everyone who has helped the library in some way over the past year—the library’s Board of Trustees, Friends group, and Foundation. And there are the folks who don’t always get recognized for their contributions to the library. The City Council and Town Board members who support our annual budgets. The Sunday volunteers who make certain this place is available to use seven days a week. Folks who deliver books and movies to library users who can’t visit us in person. Those who donate their gently used items for the book sales (and all the people who shop those sales). People who donate cash or do their online shopping through AmazonSmile which gives a percentage back to the Friends. People who drop the change they get back from making photocopies into the donation box on the counter. Those who decorate and maintain the building, both inside and out, to keep it looking good. All our daily and weekly visitors and the caregivers that make the trek in with small ones. And there are so many more. We’re grateful for everybody!

I’m personally grateful for the wonderful team I work with and the cheerful people who visit with us every day. I am continually amazed by the warmth, kindness, and support of this community. Thank you.

Best wishes for a 2020 filled with family, friends, and all good things. We’ll supply the books, movies, free Wi-Fi, and community meeting place.
